Is 50 % of the belt color required?

No. The official IBJJF wording requires at least 10 %; the 50 % figure appears nowhere in the uniform regulations.

Are red or camouflage rash guards allowed?

Not in IBJJF no-gi: red, gray, camouflage, or multicolor backgrounds are rejected. They are still ideal for training and ADCC.

Short sleeves or long sleeves?

Long sleeves protect your forearms from mat burns, while short sleeves keep your arms freer and offer better airflow. Every design is available in both lengths.

Which size should I choose?

A combat garment should fit close to the body without restricting your breathing. Compare your measurements (chest, waist, hips) with the model’s size guide. Choose your usual size. Between 2 sizes: choose the smaller size for long sleeves, which run large; choose the larger size for short sleeves, which fit very close to the body.

How should I wash it?

Machine wash at 30 degrees maximum, inside out, without fabric softener, then air-dry. Do not tumble-dry or iron over the print. See all our care advice: care guide.

Ranked Rash Guards: the guide

Why a ranked rash guard?

In no-gi, there's no belt anymore. The ranked rash guard shows your rank through its colour, which is exactly what the major IBJJF and AJP tournaments require.

IBJJF compliant

Black, white, or black and white base, with at least 10% in the rank colour, or a top entirely in the rank colour.

With room to spare

Panels, stripes, or sleeves in the rank colour, well beyond the 10% required.

Black belt

Black dominates, with a small touch of red as a nod to the red bar.

Any sleeve length

The IBJJF rulebook sets no sleeve length: short and long sleeves are both allowed.

Belt ranks, from white to black

Adults

White, blue, purple, brown, black.

Kids

Grey, yellow, orange, green, ages 4 to 15. See also kids' rash guard.
